HSBC Visa debit card

HSBC Bangladesh is proud to present to you its first debit card made out of recycled plastic (rPVC). HSBC Group first announced the usage of rPVC cards for all locations back in 2021 with the aim to reduce CO2 emissions and save plastic. The new cards don’t just come with a new material but also a new design. We have introduced a unique vertical design and made the cards more ergonomic.

     - Authentication measures
       The EMV microchip on your HSBC Visa Debit Card authenticates your transactions and reduces the chances of
       fraudulent card usage through skimming and copying of contents of the magnetic stripe.

     - NFC (Near Field Communication)
       We have also added a contactless feature on our debit card which enables you to make contactless
       transactions up to BDT 5,000, subject to your consent, on any merchant that accepts card.

     - SMS alert
       You will be informed via an SMS alert each time a transaction is performed and approved using your HSBC
       Visa Debit Card.

     - Card protection
       Limited liability is imposed for card protection in the event of a loss or theft of your HSBC Visa Debit Card

Activating your card

Option 1 - Activate your new debit card at any HSBC or other bank ATM by making a cash withdrawal or balance enquiry. Insert your debit card and enter your existing ATM card PIN. The transaction will activate your debit card.
Option 2 - Make a purchase at any Visa merchant outlet to activate your debit card. You can make purchases at any location where Visa cards are accepted. Input your existing ATM card PIN number when asked. The transaction will activate your debit card.
Option 3 - Simply call our Contact Centre 16240 (accessible from within Bangladesh and +88 096127 16240 (accessible from overseas), 24/7, including government holidays.

Domestic and international accessibility

Local debit card

In addition to HSBC ATMs, you can also use your local Visa debit card at any National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) and VISA compatible ATMs anywhere in Bangladesh to make cash withdrawals

International debit card

International Visa debit cards issued by HSBC Bangladesh can be used anywhere within the global Visa network
An international debit card can only be issued against a foreign currency account held with HSBC Bangladesh
